QATAR GRAND PRIX 2021

Overall, this went a lot better than I thought it would. There was apparently a lot of controversy over Red Bull vs Mercedes this weekend which I stayed out of because at this point in the championship, it’s way too stressful to get too immersed in this. Hamilton won but Max did awesome damage limitation and compared to the brutal disappointment that was Brazil, this went pretty good. It was Alonso’s first podium since like 2014. And, of course, there was the thing with everyone’s front left tires blowing up.

Free Practice 1

- this is the first Qatar Grand Prix in a deal for the next ten years so this better be good

- Woah it is dusty and desolate

- This track is super long and a very weird shape

- Lance has a problem ans has to be pushed back into the garage

- Lando has a problem and hurts the car going over the curbs

- Sainz gets mad at a Red Bull but then gets in Yuki’s way himself

- Little Schumacher has an off into the gravel and MAN that gravel is absolutely gnarly and bounces the car everywhere and the stones are huge and he has to dump it off track so that it doesn’t get huge rocks all over the track

FP2

- YAY Mercedes wasn’t allowed to have a repeal on giving Max a penalty for last race

- Christian Horner insinuating that the Mercedes rear wing is illegal and they’ve been saying that for the last few races and they’re right

FP3

- immediate red flag when Mazepin pulls out of his garage and stops on the pit exit for the something wrong with the car and they had done some changes on it so it is wrong

- Charles loses the rear and slides into the gravel but doesn’t go into the wall and saves it and it’s all fine

Qualifying

- lol George Lucas is in the Mercedes garage here again

- Lando and Charles have little offs on their fast laps which means their first fast laps are deleted so need them to go fast again

- Out in Q1: Kimi, Latifi, Gio, Lil Schu and Mazepin

- A lot of dangerous driving on the pit exit with Seb passing Gasly on the pit exit and Lando getting dangerously blocked by Alonso

- WHAT THE HECK, this was such a strange Q2 and out in Q2: Perez, Stroll, Charles, Ricciardo, Russell

- Max and Lewis are just a tenth and a half a way from each other and then Hamilton goes out earlier before the end of the session and then Max goes later and Hamilton puts in a fast lap and the PIERRE HAS A PUNCTURE on the pit straight and it ruins Maxy’s last fast lap so then Hamilton gets pole blahhhhhhhhhh

Race

- Max and Bottas get grid penalties for ignoring yellow flags in qualifying when pierre’s tire exploded so consequently this grid lineup is like a weird dream with Gasly in second, Alonso behind Hamilton, just weirdness

- No one wants to run down the dirty side of the track because only one side of the track is good

- The slowest formation lap ever

- Max has a BEAUTIFUL start and gets into fourth by turn three and unfortunately Hamilton has a great start

- Gasly gets out of the way for Max and Max gets past Alonso fast too! Hamilton in first and Max in second by lap 5

- Bottas is in 11th somewhere and Hamilton is panicking asking where Bottas is after the start because he needs backup

- Charles passes Kimi and Kimi nearly hits him

- Sainz nearly hits Perez while Perez is passing him

- Bottas seems happy to sit in the back in 11th even when Toto gets on the phone like come on get these cars

- Sergio is on a great run passing people

- Max may have damaged his car on the curbs but it isn’t showing up in lap times so that’s good

- Wow they are being brutal about how Bottas doesn’t steam through the field when he gets a bad start

- It really is not gravel, it’s just huge rocks out there

- Max pits first in lap 18/57, perfect pit stop thank God

- A wild pass by Perez to get past Alonso and sometimes I think Alonso is just dangerous

- Charles has a terrible lockup and gets passed by two people

- 33/57 BOT has a SPECTACULAR PUNCTURE and goes into the gravel but keeps going and it just leaves a huge amount of sparks and fire behind him and Alonso fearlessly drives through it and Bot does make it back to the pits and they are able to get him out again somehow and it puts him out in 13th. Wow that was scary

- 50/57 Lando has a slow puncture and pits so gives fourth to Perez

- Bottas retires

- 51/57 Double yellow for front left tire puncture for George Russell and is sparking away but manages to make it back to the pits and get back out but way in the back

- SO that’s the second front left tire explosion

- WOAH NOW LATIFI’s front left exploded suddenly so that’s three

- Schumacher has an off but keeps going

- Everyone is worried their front left tire is going to explode

- Max steals fastest lap

- 55/57 virtual safety car for Latifi cause the safety road angle turns out and stops Hamilton from getting fastest lap back from max

- Everyone was worried Alonso wouldn’t make it stuck in third because of the tire scare but really sweet because he does get third

- Hamilton wins, Max in second, Alonso in third

BRAZILIAN GRAND PRIX 2021

That felt like the longest race in the world and like it was one long panic attack. It was even worse because it started so well for Red Bull and by the end had just become a Hamilton worship festival culminating in Hamilton running around with a Brazil flag. There’s always drama in Interlagos,but this weekend, the experimental format was used and only made the Hamilton worship worse. This whole race was just used to make Hamilton out to be a hero this weekend.

Free Practice 1

- Don’t forget it’s an experimental format weekend again this time

- They’re trying to call this the São Paulo Grand Prix instead of Brazilian Grand Prix for the first time cause they want tourism for São Paulo

- Announced that Hamilton will take a penalty for a new engine this race

- Apparently Mazepin got into an altercation at a Mexico City night club sometime during last Grand Prix weekend. Of course

- They said this weekend they had freight issues so the Pirelli tire balance things aren’t there yet which is a big deal

Qualifying

- Charles is like the only person who gets his time deleted for track limits and then has to go again in Q1 and puts it third

- Out in Q1: Stroll, Latifi, Russell, Schumacher, Mazepin

- Hamilton’s first fast lap in Q2 was deleted for track limits!! Awesome.

- Nobody said anything about track limits until qualifying so I don’t know where that came from

- Out in Q2: ocon, Vettel, Tsunoda, Kimi and Gio

- Mazepin messes something up at the end of Q1 and then in the interview he was emotional and basically started crying. Yikes I can’t stand Mazepin but I don’t want to see anyone cry in an interview geez

- Weird, it’s Hamilton on pole which I didn’t expect at all. Max in second, Bot in third, Perez in fourth

Free practice 2

- OKAY since the end of qualifying there has been INCREDIBLE AMOUNT OF DRAMA

- APPARENTLY after qualifying, it was found that Hamilton’s rear wing did not pass the inspection and it was too wide so that’s why he beat Max by four tenths. After they got out of the cars, Max touched the rear wing on the Mercedes for like half a second that a fan caught on video. So Mercedes got investigated by the stewards but were determined to drag Max down with them so they accused him of doing something to the car after the qualifying so then the stewards called him in. And now it’s FP2 and it is still under investigation but if they do find that Hamilton was definitely out of line then he could be DISQUALIFIED from qualifying!!

- SO WHAT HAPPENED is that first the stewards gave Max a 50,000 euro fine EVEN THOUGH THERES NO WAY THAT HE COULD HAVE DONE ANYTHING, I mean LOOK AT THE VIDEO, so just for touching it, boom, they fine him and it makes absolutely no sense. There are drivers touching each other’s cars alllll the tiiiime. And THEN a little later they DID DISQUALIFY HAMILTON so he has to start from the back of the grid for the sprint!! Then get an additional 5 place penalty for where he starts in the race on Sunday. WOWWWWWWWW

Sprint race

- hamilton starts in last

- Max has gear sync problems in the start and Bottas gets ahead in the first turn

- Then Sainz gets past him into second and it’s cause he’s having gear issues still

- Then Max’s tires came in cause he was on the mediums and sainz was on the softs which worked really well at the start but the Max gets back into second

- Ah geez this is going to be one of those races where they just constantly praising Hamilton working through the field and it’s like they’re making him out a hero, ugh I hate those kinds of races

- Lando and Charles terrifying me with some great racing. Unfortunately Lando gets past charles

- Hamilton is passing a bunch of people and they’re just worshiping him constantly

- In the end it’s Bot wins, then Max and Sainz

- I am not sure why Perez couldn’t get past Sainz cause it really seemed like he could

- They have then wreaths and stood on a not podium but said it’s just some kind of recognition thing for drivers that isn’t a podium

- Overall this is like the most nonsense I’ve seen in F1 in one day in a long time

- It has left me feeling disgusted and sick and I don’t want to see this again

Race

- Kimi starts from the pit cause he changed a part

- Geez they already can’t stop worshiping hamilton and it’s not even a minute in

- I don’t know if they’ll ever stop talking about Hamilton in that sprint race yesterday

- Lando has a puncture before even turn one because of Sainz

- Lando stays in the race

- Max ahead to first on the first time! And then Perez! Leclerc gets past Sainz too!

- In one lap Hamilton went from 10th to 6th ugh

- Bottas gets team orders to let Hamilton by so now Hamilton is up to third by lap 7, ughhhhhhhhh

- Yuki Tsunoda hits Stroll and then just destroys his car and there is debris everywhere so a full safety car is pulled which is bad for Red Bull because it bunchs up the pack to the two Red Bull’s in the lead and it was caused by the Red Bull sister team

- So yeah I think this is my final straw on Yuki. I’m done

- Hamilton radios thank you Valtteri for letting him by ughhhhhhhhhhhh barf

- Restart is nerve wracking but all goes fine and Charles nearly gets Bottas

- Lil Schu hits Kimi and had his front wing under him and now there’s loads more debris right away and they go to a virtual safety car instead of full safety car so they hope that it starts at a point that isn’t good for Hamilton

- It does start in a place good for Red Bull

- They give Yuki a ten second time penalty for causing a collision

- Hamilton passes Perez but then thankfully Perez passes him right back

- 18/71 Hamilton does successfully pass Perez

- They pit Hamilton first and then immediately pit Max in response so minimal damage done. Both have good stops. Hamilton held up on his out lap by Daniel so that was good but still made up time on Max

- Another virtual safety car when stuff comes off Stroll’s car from when Yuki hit it

- Alonso has a slow stop

- Lol at Ferrari who committed to a two stop early in the race by running two of the same tires and they had no idea if it would really be a two stop so there is ferrari failing at strategy again, as usual

- By thirty laps in, this is already feeling like the longest race in the world and I can’t believe it’s not half distance yet

- Max pits first for the second stop so he isn’t exposed to the undercut and that would be great but also Latifi pits and so he cuts off max on the way out of the pits and its exactly like how Kubica cut off Max in a Williams a couple years ago in Brazil

- 48/58 Hamilton has much more speed and tried to pass Max but they both go wide in the process and now the commentators are like oh did max push Lewis off the road ughh

- Now it’s under investigation

- Stroll is out from damage

- Randomly Daniel is also out and we don’t have a reason

- The stewards rule that there’s no investigation necessary! No penalty for Max so there all you naysayers

- 58/71 Hamilton is able to pass Max for the lead and it’s all over from here

- The commentators CANNOT STOP worshiping Hamilton this time and ugh I did not know that Brazil worships Hamilton and now I will never forget it

- They show the pass on max like eight thousand times and the crowd cheering ugh

- Then the stewards give max a black and white flag for weaving on the straight and Max is like yeah perfect say hi

- Hamilton wins and then gets a Brazil flag and runs around with it so this was truly a deplorable race to watch and I couldn’t even listen to the end

- Max in second and Bottas in third and Perez in fourth

MEXICAN GRAND PRIX 2021

The return of Maxico was glorious!! It was a double Red Bull podium, too, which was even better because Sergio was the home hero and you could just hear the roar of the crowd and the Red Bull support! It was such an awesome atmosphere and the celebrations were utterly rowdy and wonderful.

Free Practice 1

- HERE WE GO MAXICOOOOOOOOO

- This track is famously dusty and is over 2200 meters above sea level

- Charles has no grip on the hard tires and does a small spin into the last turn and bumps the wall but is fine

- Then Sergio does the EXACT same thing as Charles in the same place and hits thee back or the wall and ends up coming into the pit with only HALF an entire wing which I’ve never seen

- At about 33 minutes left in the sessions there’s a guy in the Ferrari garage hitting something in Charles car with a sideways wrench and I just think it’s exactly what I expect from Ferrari

- Pato O’Ward is at the young driver test at the McLaren pit wall! Aww

- Hamilton just went straight through the grass on something and is being called into the stewards after for not going around the bollards like he was supposed to

FP2

- HA Hamilton got a reprimand for going over the grass! Hahaha! Kimi got one too but the important thing is that Hamilton got a reprimand

- The dust is so outrageous

- George has a gearbox problem and can’t do much practice

- Daniel has some kind of problem keeping him from being on track too

Free Practice 3

- there’s oil on the track from a support series and it’s suuuuuper slippery

- The support for Perez is so beautiful

Qualifying

- in Q1, Lance Stroll crashes near the pit straight with 11 minutes left and it causes a red flag. Will have medical checks but says he is fine.

- People who have engine penalties this race will include Lance Stroll, Lando, George Russell, Ocon I think

- When the session finally restarts, Sainz looks like he is losing power but then they are able to tell him how to fix it

- Mazepin complains on the radio that Schumacher is going too slow in front of him and then gets chewed out on the radio by an engineer saying if he says to stay behind mick he stays behind mick.

- Out in Q1: Alonso Latifi Schumacher Mazepin and Stroll

- Gio pulls yellow flag at the last minute in Q2 but gets away with it without compromising anyone’s lap

- Out in Q2: Vettel, Kimi, Russell, Gio, Ocon

- Bot on pole, Hamilton in second, Max, then Perez

Race

- people going slow into the grid and Mercedes mad about it

- BOTTAS SPUN ON THE FIRST LAP by Perez!!! AHHHHH

- MAX LEADS INTO THE FIRST TURN AHHHHH HES FIRST

- Daniel has damage, Yuki is out, mick is out

- OKAY DONT WORRY it actually wasn’t Perez!! YAY, it was actually Daniel who hit Perez so Perez is all good

- WoW when Yuki and Ocon and Mick came together I think? They like flew in the air

- Full safety car for the first five laps

- So yeah Yuki and Mick are both out

- Lance has an off and rejoins and has to give back his advantage

- More amazing footage of Mick hugging all the guys on the Alfa Romeo pit wall and beings truly grateful and sweet. I wish he hadn’t been taken out

- As soon as I saw that Carlos was behind Charles and I was like watch he’s gonna complain he’s faster than Charles because Charles is giving him a slipstream and then BOOM five minutes later that exact thing happened and Charles immediately put another half second between him and Sainz on the next lap. Getting real sick of them constantly being nice to Sainz and being mean to Charles

- A bit of a slow stop for Stroll

- Hamilton pits first and comes out behind Charles and Charles holds him up! YES! But then Ferrari calls him in at the end of the lap to get out of Lewis’s way, boooooo. But thankful Charles held up Lewis a little

- Max has a beautiful pit stop and it also means Perez is now leading the race and he is the first Mexican to lead a lap in Mexico

- It’s just wonderful to watch everyone cheering for Sergio as he leads, I’m gonna cry

- 42/71 Bottas has a super slow stop of over 11 seconds because the front left won’t come off and there’s fire and smoke from him being stationary so long but he gets going again

- Sainz accuses Charles of "making a lot of mistakes to keep me behind I think" EXCUSE ME

- They do swap the Ferraris so sainz is in front because Charles tires went off

- Perez is catching Hamilton with ten laps to go and he could DO IT

- It was SO CLOSE but Perez didn’t quite get Hamilton

- MAX WINNNNNNNNNNNSSSSS WOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

- Hamilton in second but Perez in third!! First time a Mexican has been on a Mexico podium!!! He came over the radio and said he was so happy they won in his country and it was so beautiful

- Everyone roaring for Perez!! THE POST RACE SCENES ARE SO BEAUTIFUL

- Max and Perez holding up the Mexican flag! And his

- LITTLE CHECO CAME UP TO HIS DAD AT THE POST RACE INTERVIEW

- ONE OF THE BEST POST RACE CELEBRATIONS OF RED BULL AND MAX AND SERGIO IVE EVER SEEN

- They raised up the car to the podium and Max was just sitting on it casually and I love it

- I just can’t get over this crowd atmosphere, the only other time I’ve seen this so far is it’s almost like the Dutch Grand Prix

- Max is the first person ever to win in Mexico 3 times!! THATS WHY ITS MAXICO
