That felt like the longest race in the world and like it was one long panic attack. It was even worse because it started so well for Red Bull and by the end had just become a Hamilton worship festival culminating in Hamilton running around with a Brazil flag. There’s always drama in Interlagos,but this weekend, the experimental format was used and only made the Hamilton worship worse. This whole race was just used to make Hamilton out to be a hero this weekend.
Free Practice 1
- Don’t forget it’s an experimental format weekend again this time
- They’re trying to call this the São Paulo Grand Prix instead of Brazilian Grand Prix for the first time cause they want tourism for São Paulo
- Announced that Hamilton will take a penalty for a new engine this race
- Apparently Mazepin got into an altercation at a Mexico City night club sometime during last Grand Prix weekend. Of course
- They said this weekend they had freight issues so the Pirelli tire balance things aren’t there yet which is a big deal
Qualifying
- Charles is like the only person who gets his time deleted for track limits and then has to go again in Q1 and puts it third
- Out in Q1: Stroll, Latifi, Russell, Schumacher, Mazepin
- Hamilton’s first fast lap in Q2 was deleted for track limits!! Awesome.
- Nobody said anything about track limits until qualifying so I don’t know where that came from
- Out in Q2: ocon, Vettel, Tsunoda, Kimi and Gio
- Mazepin messes something up at the end of Q1 and then in the interview he was emotional and basically started crying. Yikes I can’t stand Mazepin but I don’t want to see anyone cry in an interview geez
- Weird, it’s Hamilton on pole which I didn’t expect at all. Max in second, Bot in third, Perez in fourth
Free practice 2
- OKAY since the end of qualifying there has been INCREDIBLE AMOUNT OF DRAMA
- APPARENTLY after qualifying, it was found that Hamilton’s rear wing did not pass the inspection and it was too wide so that’s why he beat Max by four tenths. After they got out of the cars, Max touched the rear wing on the Mercedes for like half a second that a fan caught on video. So Mercedes got investigated by the stewards but were determined to drag Max down with them so they accused him of doing something to the car after the qualifying so then the stewards called him in. And now it’s FP2 and it is still under investigation but if they do find that Hamilton was definitely out of line then he could be DISQUALIFIED from qualifying!!
- SO WHAT HAPPENED is that first the stewards gave Max a 50,000 euro fine EVEN THOUGH THERES NO WAY THAT HE COULD HAVE DONE ANYTHING, I mean LOOK AT THE VIDEO, so just for touching it, boom, they fine him and it makes absolutely no sense. There are drivers touching each other’s cars alllll the tiiiime. And THEN a little later they DID DISQUALIFY HAMILTON so he has to start from the back of the grid for the sprint!! Then get an additional 5 place penalty for where he starts in the race on Sunday. WOWWWWWWWW
Sprint race
- hamilton starts in last
- Max has gear sync problems in the start and Bottas gets ahead in the first turn
- Then Sainz gets past him into second and it’s cause he’s having gear issues still
- Then Max’s tires came in cause he was on the mediums and sainz was on the softs which worked really well at the start but the Max gets back into second
- Ah geez this is going to be one of those races where they just constantly praising Hamilton working through the field and it’s like they’re making him out a hero, ugh I hate those kinds of races
- Lando and Charles terrifying me with some great racing. Unfortunately Lando gets past charles
- Hamilton is passing a bunch of people and they’re just worshiping him constantly
- In the end it’s Bot wins, then Max and Sainz
- I am not sure why Perez couldn’t get past Sainz cause it really seemed like he could
- They have then wreaths and stood on a not podium but said it’s just some kind of recognition thing for drivers that isn’t a podium
- Overall this is like the most nonsense I’ve seen in F1 in one day in a long time
- It has left me feeling disgusted and sick and I don’t want to see this again
Race
- Kimi starts from the pit cause he changed a part
- Geez they already can’t stop worshiping hamilton and it’s not even a minute in
- I don’t know if they’ll ever stop talking about Hamilton in that sprint race yesterday
- Lando has a puncture before even turn one because of Sainz
- Lando stays in the race
- Max ahead to first on the first time! And then Perez! Leclerc gets past Sainz too!
- In one lap Hamilton went from 10th to 6th ugh
- Bottas gets team orders to let Hamilton by so now Hamilton is up to third by lap 7, ughhhhhhhhh
- Yuki Tsunoda hits Stroll and then just destroys his car and there is debris everywhere so a full safety car is pulled which is bad for Red Bull because it bunchs up the pack to the two Red Bull’s in the lead and it was caused by the Red Bull sister team
- So yeah I think this is my final straw on Yuki. I’m done
- Hamilton radios thank you Valtteri for letting him by ughhhhhhhhhhhh barf
- Restart is nerve wracking but all goes fine and Charles nearly gets Bottas
- Lil Schu hits Kimi and had his front wing under him and now there’s loads more debris right away and they go to a virtual safety car instead of full safety car so they hope that it starts at a point that isn’t good for Hamilton
- It does start in a place good for Red Bull
- They give Yuki a ten second time penalty for causing a collision
- Hamilton passes Perez but then thankfully Perez passes him right back
- 18/71 Hamilton does successfully pass Perez
- They pit Hamilton first and then immediately pit Max in response so minimal damage done. Both have good stops. Hamilton held up on his out lap by Daniel so that was good but still made up time on Max
- Another virtual safety car when stuff comes off Stroll’s car from when Yuki hit it
- Alonso has a slow stop
- Lol at Ferrari who committed to a two stop early in the race by running two of the same tires and they had no idea if it would really be a two stop so there is ferrari failing at strategy again, as usual
- By thirty laps in, this is already feeling like the longest race in the world and I can’t believe it’s not half distance yet
- Max pits first for the second stop so he isn’t exposed to the undercut and that would be great but also Latifi pits and so he cuts off max on the way out of the pits and its exactly like how Kubica cut off Max in a Williams a couple years ago in Brazil
- 48/58 Hamilton has much more speed and tried to pass Max but they both go wide in the process and now the commentators are like oh did max push Lewis off the road ughh
- Now it’s under investigation
- Stroll is out from damage
- Randomly Daniel is also out and we don’t have a reason
- The stewards rule that there’s no investigation necessary! No penalty for Max so there all you naysayers
- 58/71 Hamilton is able to pass Max for the lead and it’s all over from here
- The commentators CANNOT STOP worshiping Hamilton this time and ugh I did not know that Brazil worships Hamilton and now I will never forget it
- They show the pass on max like eight thousand times and the crowd cheering ugh
- Then the stewards give max a black and white flag for weaving on the straight and Max is like yeah perfect say hi
- Hamilton wins and then gets a Brazil flag and runs around with it so this was truly a deplorable race to watch and I couldn’t even listen to the end
- Max in second and Bottas in third and Perez in fourth
