AZERBAIJAN GRAND PRIX 2021

THE DRAMA from this Baku city circuit will live on in infamy. This was the time when Lance Stroll's tire blew up inexplicably, and then, shortly after, Max had lead a beautiful grand prix, doing nothing wrong the whole time, when suddenly, Max's tires inexplicably blew up WHILE HE WAS IN THE LEAD THE WHOLE RACE and he crashed out. Everyone is furious at Pirelli tires.

But JUST when it looked like all hope was lost, Hamilton completely blew it on the restart and went straight off all by himself and Perez won!!! Hallelujah!

THIS WAS CRAZY.

Free Practice 1

• They are already showing the time Charles crashed into that tiny corner in the beginning replays like I knew they would

• Yuki Tsunoda has a horrifyingly embarrassing off which results in a five minute fifteen point turn which takes forever to correct and it’s quite embarrassing and he needs a good weekend desperately

• Ocon got in Max and George’s way

• Lando puts in an amazing lap but has a really scary slide in the last sector that spins him all the way around but he kept it out of the wall

• Mazepin doesn’t get out of the way for Max and Max is furious, wow what is Mazepin doing

• Mazepin in the wall with two minutes left. At least he brings it back to the garage himself

• Little Schumacher and also Sainz have harmless offs into the extra roads

• The wind picks up at the end of the session and literally everyone starts going off

• Bottas does a spin turn in an access road and almost spins into Lando but no harm done in the end

Free Practice 2

• Mazepin just blocks Sainz on a fast lap and gets on the radio enraged and Sainz complained about him too being like “this guy”

• Latifi’s engine dies after an off and he’s on a straight so they pull a red flag

• Charles crashed straight into a barrier while on a push lap and but was able to reverse out, leave the front wing behind and go back to the pits

FP3

• Max crashed into the same place that Charles crashed into the barrier yesterday but Max crashed harder into the barrier and could not reverse out and had to sit sad being photographed and then the medical car took him back to the garage and he’s fine but it does throw a red flag to clean it up

• The Mercedes are doing real bad and Lewis is mad

• No power, no gears for George Russell at the end of the session and there’s oil in the track

• Mazepin brushes the wall and has to take the the Haas back to the garage to repair

• This is such an interrupted session with yellow flags everywhere and barely any flying laps

• Gasly up to the top of the times at the end?! This is really unpredictable and seems like qualifying could be exciting

• Something bad is happening to Bot’s car

• Mercedes have GOT to get a tow cause it improved them sixth tenths but otherwise they are slow

Qualifying

• George Russell’s mechanics are desperately trying to repair his car in time for qualifying to get a lap in before the end of Q1

• Red flag in Q1 when Lance Stroll turns into turn 15 where Max and Charles crashed earlier in the weekend and mangles his right tire and he is out of qualifying

• Lance’s crash buys George’s team time to repair GR’s car in time to get out for Q1 hopefully

• a couple other people get fast laps in Q1 BUT THEN Gio crashes into the SAME corner as Lance did earlier in the session and caused a SECOND red flag in Q1

• Geez this turn 15 has crashed four drivers thus far this weekend and we still have most of qualifying to go

• Lando Norris under investigation for not following red flag procedures which we don’t know what part yet. Oh it’s cause he couldn’t slow fast enough to get into the pit lane his first pass during the red

• Out in Q1: Latifi, Schumacher, Mazepin, Gio and Stroll

• Investigating unsafe releases at the beginning of Q2 from Aston Martin and another team getting in the way of the Red Bull’s and Max and Perez complain on the radio about it

• Ocon brushes the wall in Q2

• Q2 ends early because DANIEL crashed in turn 3 and causes a red flag with a minute and half left so session not restarted

• Out in Q2: Vettel, ocon, ricciardo, Kimi and Russell

• FOURTH RED FLAG for YUKI crashing and ending the session early and THEN Sainz has a violent slide into a wall behind him possibly because Yuki distracted him

• Then Charles was in the interview “I thought it was kind of a sh*t lap”

• Max says it was a dumb qualifying which is true

Race

• Lando got a penalty for ignoring red flags and now starts 9th

• oh look Charles is actually starting on pole this time, WHAT A TREAT

• Charles keeps the lead!!

• Perez makes up places in the first lap so he’s behind Max

• No crashes in first lap and I can’t believe it

• Small contact between Stroll and Schumacher but no crashes

• A branch falls in front of Charles and it surprises him and he’s leading so he’s the first to encounter it and it causes people behind him to go around it and it gives Hamilton more ground

• Hamilton gets past Charles on lap 2 or 3

• Early George Russell pit stop to go to hard tires and go tot he rest of the race

• Ocon loses power and retires but takes it back to the pit so no safety car or anything. Bye ocon

• Uh Yuki just told his engineer to shut up so he’s obviously freaking out he’s in such a good position

• Hamilton has a slow stop of 4 seconds! Because he has to wait for Pierre Gasly to go by and I LOVE Pierre right now

• Sainz locks up and has to go to an escape road and it’s obvious that nobody has reason to say Sainz Is equal to Charles

• FAST STOP FOR MAX and he gets ahead of Hamilton for the lead!!!

• Slower stop for Perez but he still gets past Hamilton!! So Sergio can keep hamilton behind

• Now Seb is leading this race somehow and he needs to get out of the way for the Red Bull’s

• Sainz is having to battle Gio because of his off and he’s down in 13th while Charles is in 6th and nobody every points out these things but this is my new mission. Sainz is not Charles. Charles is a star

• Ohhh noo Bot has a small off but keeps it going. This is another brutal weekend for him

• Mazepin has an off and causes a yellow flag but keeps going

• Hamilton is playing mind games trying to pretend he’s losing pace to mess with the Red Bull’s while he’s making up pace but I know the Red Bull’s KNOW this tactic

• Mazepin as a back marker held up Perez but let Hamilton right past of course because villains stick together

• 30/51 WOAH LANCE STROLL has a giant high speed crash that leaves debris all over the track and he is shaken up by it on the radio calling for a red flag because it was so violent and it triggers a safety car but the pit lane is closed because it was on the pit straight so no one can pit and it’s likely a very long safety car period to get rid of the crashed Aston Martin and it turns out it was a rear left tire failure

• They seem to have just left lance stroll back in his garage without checking him medically even though there was a huge impact but apparently he’s fine and his dad checks on him as soon as he gets into the garage

• Ugh Hamilton on the radio constantly during the safety car

• Pit lane open again before end of safety car

• Little Schumacher goes into the pits and they release him with a wiggly tire and he has to stop before he leaves the pits and they wheel him back to redo his tire

• WOAH CRAZY RESTART and Vettel is passing lots of people and Max and Perez stay ahead of Hamilton and Charles has a big lockup but doesn’t hit anyone thank God

• SEB gets past Gasly into 4th!! Like properly! It’s because of tire stuff but when he does pass him Gasly is like “that’s not possible!” And he’s right this is crazy

• Geeeez Bottas getting passed by Gio for 13th and it’s like what is happening there

• There’s an actual chance Seb could get Hamilton for third here and I love that PLEASE SEB

• 49/51 OHHHHHHHH NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO MAX’s REAR LEFT TIRE FAILED AND CRASHED HIS CAR ON THE MAIN STRAIGHT AT LIKE 200 MPH JUST LIKE LANCE STROLL BEFORE

• MAX IS SO UPSET, I AM DEVASTATED. THIS IS DEVASTATING

• AHHHHHHHHHH

• TURNS OUT THAT MAX DID NOTHING WRONG AND HIS TIRE EXPLODED AND IT IS ENTIRELY PIRELLI’S FAULT AND THERE WAS NO WARNING AND RED BULL TOLD THE FIA THEY HAD NO WARNING OF THIS AT ALL FROM DATA SO THEN THEY RED FLAGGED THE RACE

• No red flag for stroll but red flag for Max

• Talk of if the race ends now then Max would win because it’s 49/51 but then they are gonna restart

• McLaren tried to get Michael Massey to penalize Tsunoda because he’s right behind Lando and he ignored yellow flags but then Michael roasted them and said everyone was infringing

• Bottas must just want this day to be over since he’s down in 14th

• It’s going to be a standing start on 49/51 and Max is out, I am completely shell shocked like everyone

• I can’t believe Max isn’t winning this when he hasn’t put a foot wrong all race and everyone knows it

• Of course everyone changes tires and they’re allowed to change damaged parts so Hamilton gets to change his front wing and it’s just incredible how obvious this always goes towards Mercedes

• Pirelli is completely screwed and I will never buy a Pirelli tire again

• The only word for all of this is ridiculous

• So they’re gridding up and everything for 49/51

• Latifi’s team tells him to stay out and it’s unbelievable because what a mistake during the red flag and it gets him a ten second penalty and it all seems like a footnote in comparison to the rest of this incredible drama

• HOLY CRAP HAMILTON GOES STRAIGHT OFF AT THE FIRST TURN OF THE RESTART HALLELUJAH THIS IS THE ONLY THING THAT COULD HAVE REDEEMED THIS DAY AND I AM SO HAPPY

• Charles and Pierre are scrapping for third for the entire last two laps!! Wow!

• PEREZ WINS WITH SEB IN SECOND AND GASLY IN THIRD WHAAAAAATT!!! This was WILD STUFF

• Max did go to the podium to support Perez so very happy for that! It’s so so nice to see new faces at the podium wow and Seb can interview and everything like he never left

• I just love Perez

MONACO GRAND PRIX 2021

It's two weeks later and I can still feel the crushing, horrifying feeling of hopes being dashed before my very eyes from this Monaco grand prix. I will never forget how furious this one made me.

Ferrari finally did awesome in all the practices and was amazing in qualifying, but then Charles CRASHED in Q3, ending the session early and cutting off a few others fast laps, BUT STILL GOT POLE.

It was the weirdest feeling. On the one hand, I was absolutely thrilled Charles was on pole. It felt like 2019 again when Ferrari was fearsome. But, on the other hand, knowing he'd crashed was tough because it took some of the celebrations out of it.

There was a real threat that Sainz was going to be the Ferrari to qualify on pole and I absolutely forbade it. There was no way Sainz was getting on pole in Monaco, which is Charles's house, especially when it had been so long since Ferrari had been on pole AND since Sainz was the new teammate. I was like "Don't even think about it, Sainzy."

All night, I was worried that Charles was going to have to change his gearbox and get a penalty which would strip him from pole. But everything I saw kept insisting that he was retaining pole and no repairs would be necessary.

So THEN, the morning of the race, my phone starts blowing up.

It's my sister texting me about the home race curse and how she's never seen it this bad since that time Seb crashed at Hockenheim. At first she reported that Charles was starting from the pit lane, but then she said CHARLES WASN'T EVEN GOING TO START THE RACE AT ALL.

Monaco is ruthless to Charles. It's unbelievable. Let's count back all of Charles Leclerc's F1 Monaco Grand Prix, shall we?

2018 - At Sauber, Charles breaks went out at the chicane and he couldn't stop out of the tunnel and accidentally ran into Brendan Hartley, taking him out of the race, too.

2019 - FERRARI FORGOT to put Charles out in qualifying because they were so focused on Sebastian Vettel, so even though Charles was in the garage being like "Shouldn't I be out there?", they ignored it and ended up having him qualify 16th because they forgot about him. When he started the race, he tried to race his was up but ended up puncturing a tire and had to retire.

2020 - THERE WASN'T EVEN A MONACO RACE IN 2020

2021- Charles crashes in qualifying but gets pole, then his car can't even make it to the grid and instead of repairing the car and risking grid positions, Charles isn't even able to race at all because the problem is "impossible to repair" before the race start.

This year has GOT to be the worst Monaco for Charles because it made it even worse that there was real hope that he'd actually win this race, despite all of Ferrari's failures.

Alright. So that's what happened to Charles and it was one of the worst days ever.

BUT let's not forget the GREAT thing that also happened: Max Verstappen won his first ever Monaco grand prix!! Now he's leading the F1 title championship for the first time in his career AND I COULD NOT BE MORE PROUD OF HIM!

Also: the post race for this Monaco grand prix was total nonsense. Trashy. Serena Williams not knowing how to wave the checkered flag. People yelling down from balconies, confusion over whether the anthems or the trophy-giving was first, and most famously, David Coulthard inviting Serena Williams to interrupt Max Verstappen's post-race interview and asking her if there was any way Max could improve. It was unbelievable. Also, one good thing though, was that Charles could have gone home but he didn't. He stayed til after the race to support Carlos.

And who doesn't love Max, Carlos and Lando on the podium together?

• YAY MY FAVORITE RACE WEEKEND

• Welcome again to the famous THURSDAY practices of Monaco rather than Friday, it just makes the whole thing feel even more special

• SHOOT CHARLES HAS A TOTAL GEARBOX FAILURE BEFORE IT’S EVEN FIFTEEN MINUTES INTO THE SESSION ughhh the home race curse is back

• Max is totally blocked by Mazepin on a fast lap

• Mazepin and Latifi both have separate incidents brushing the wall but only yellow flags

• Alonso has an unusual shunt into the wall that causes him to lose his wing and a virtual safety car

• Kimi has a big lockup but takes it into the runoff area and it’s all fine

• They are being SAVAGE to a bunch of drivers in commentary right now, like they roasted Ocon and Paul said he thought Ocon was lucky to have a seat at the end of last season because Daniel crushed him so much all season and Paul says he thinks Ocon has lost that Mercedes seat forever

• Geez they really are mean to Natalie and condescending, goodness

• Sainz is majorly in the way of Max during the end laps of the session

FP2

• I just want charles to have a good home race one time without the home race curse

• Yuki has a little time in the wall which ends his session

• Ohhhh nooooo little Schu has a pretty bad slam into the wall with six minutes left in the session and it ends up bringing a red flag to clear the Haas away even though he parked it out of the way, poor thing. I am just so protective of Little Schu

• Sainz set the fastest time and then Charles came in later and beat him for the top time and I just knew he would do it, why is he so talented

• Charles waving again his Monaco fans and all the Leclerc banners is literally crushing my soul

• CHARLES END THE SESSION WITH THE TOP TIME and then Sainz in second, oh my gosh what if Ferrari could be good this weekend

Free Practice 3

• with a half hour left, Ferrari is STILL on top repeatedly which is totally unbelievable which means they actually have THREE teams in the mix for pole this weekend

• I cannot believe Ferrari actually has a chance at pole this weekend. And it actually looks like a GOOD chance at this point which is totally unbelievable

• So impressive watching Charles put down purple sectors repeatedly. Sainz too but of course mostly Charles

• Everyone talking about how Mercedes has had a terrible start to the weekend and how the quali totally dictates the Grand Prix and it could generally be Ferrari

• I need to watch quali live

• Reporting that Hamilton is legit struggling with the rear of the car and some other stuff and Bot is more comfortable THIS IS AMAZING

• Nicholas Latifi pulls a red flag just as the session was about to boil up and he went straight into the wall by the pits and TIME KEEPS GOING so we don’t have the same information to show all the comparisons

• Nico says Mercedes is certainly in real trouble at the moment especially without the practice from this red flag, what an awesome day

• Session restarted with 12 minutes to go and there’s a huge queue to get out and Max gets out first

• OH NO little Schumacher has a big crash into the wall and it has like totally destroyed his car and it is missing a back wheel entirely but he is totally safe and fine. Paul says he has no idea how they could ever get that car ready for qualifying. It really would be a HUGEEE job for 2 hours

• Also trying to rebuild Latifi’s car before qualifying but Little Schu’s is worse

• Poor little Schu apologizes in person to everyone in the garage and is obviously very disappointed with himself for allowing that to happen because he was having a really good session but poor thing

Qualifying

• EEEEK

• AW yep Little Schumacher not taking part of quali because they couldn’t fix it fast enough after his bad crash

• Kimi has a lockup in Q1 but recovers it on the recovery road

• wow so stressful before Q1 is even over

• So much track evolution

• Out in Q1: Tsunoda (yikes, Gasly is in like 6th compared to Tsunoda in the back), Alonso, Latifi, Mazepin and Schumacher who didn’t go out

• GASP there is a giant cloud hovering over the mountain and if it rains that would just be too much. They originally said 30 percent chance of rain and it rained before Practice 3 so it could happen but please no

• Charles ended Q2 at fastest!!!

• Out in Q2: Ocon, Ricciardo, Stroll, Kimi and Russell

• CHARLES GETS FASTEST LAP AND THEN CRASHES WITH 18 SECONDS LEFT AND STILL GETS POLE

• WOWWWWW

• Max in second and Bot in third for the grid

RACE

• ON THE WAY TO THE GRID CHARLES REPORTS A PROBLEM WHICH LOOKS LIKE HE IS GOING TO HAVE TO START FROM THE PIT LANE BUT THEN IT TURNED OUT IT WOULD HE IMPOSSIBLE TO FIX IN TIME TO START THE RACE SO HE DIDNT EVEN GET TO START HIS HOME GRAND PRIX AFTER HE QUALIFIED ON POLE

• THIS IS THE WORST RACE EVER AND IT HASNT EVEN STARTED YET

• I HAVE NO WORDS

• This is just worst day ever for racing

• Max keeps first after start

• Stroll flying over the curbs and getting serious air

• 33/78 BOTTAS HAS THE LONGEST STOP EVER AND THE FRONT RIGHT TIRE WONT COME OFF TO THE POINT WHERE THEY HAVE TO RETIRE HIM

• Hamilton is somehow still stuck back in 7th after all the pit stops and it’s glorious and he is on the radio freaking out and yelling at the pit wall for their decisions

• Hamilton asking on the radio where Bot is like he’s gonna use him for his advantage and turns out Bot is retired and there’s no one to do Hamilton’s race for him and I love that

• Oh gosh Daniel has been lapped, that is not what he needed this weekend when he has been lacking pace and Lando has been doing so well

• oh gosh it’s Lando that lapped Daniel wow

• It’s really nice seeing Hamilton so far back Hehehehehehehe

• With 20 laps left Sainz is gonna try and put pressure on Max in front and I’m just so done, please don’t even go there

• Stroll under investigation for failing to keep right at the pit exit, ok wut

• Turns out they don’t even penalize Stroll for that so I don’t even know

• Yikes Yuki is in the bottom five while Gasly is in 6th and now Yuki gets a black and white flag for track limits

• Charles goes into the Ferrari garage for the end of the race to cheer for Sainz in second

• MAX WINS for the first time in Monaco!! Yay!!!!!!!!!! So so so proud!

• It’s the first time Max is leading the championship!!

• There’s a bunch of Max supporters wearing all orange on boats and it’s amazing

• These Monaco post race celebrations are surprisingly an embarrassing mess, like no one is keeping it classy and people are yelling at Max from their balconies and they didn’t do the national anthems in the right order and Maxy’s girlfriend is there kissing his helmet in her mask and they keep zooming in on Charles face even though he is taking this really well and then there was a horrible thing where they brought Serena Williams into Max’s post race interview during his first podium AND win in historic Monaco, I mean, come on David Coulthard we have to do better than that

• Really sweet to see Lando and Sainz both on the podium together as friends and Carlos walked into Lando’s interview and they were being funny

• Charles is such a good sport and Martin said any other driver would be back home in their apartment disappointed by the end of the race but instead Charles was there supporting his teammate

SPANISH GRAND PRIX 2021

The Spanish Grand Prix was a lot better this year than I expected. The last few years, it has been pretty dull and was low on action, but this race was actually very exciting. The downside was that, after Max lead for 60/66 laps, Hamilton got the lead again because of tire strategy and won. Crushing disappointment, but not surprised.

Other great things that happened included Charles roasting Mazepin on the radio in FP1, Bottas being obviously punished by Mercedes by an unnecessary pit stop after he held up Hamilton in the race and wouldn't give him the win right away, and Daniel and Perez got out of the way to help Max get an advantage on Hamilton after Max's pit stop. It all was up in the air the whole race as to who would win and the whole thing came right down to the end of the race.

Free Practice 1

• Roy Nissani in for George at Williams this session

• Robert Kubica in for Kimi at Alfa Romeo

• Apparently they changed a turn from last year which won’t help overtaking and just makes everything harder

• OH MY GOSH Mazepin in the gravel already and it’s only been 4 minutes into the first session

• Charles was right behind him when Mazepin went off and saw the whole thing and said "Mazepin will never change"

• Seb lost a part of his front wing so somewhere

• Red flag for Robert Kubica putting the Alpha Romeo he was testing in the gravel

FP2

• skipped because I heard nothing happened

FP3

• Lando has a little off into the gravel like in FP1 but caught it earlier

• Bottas is just not finding speed and it’s hard to watch

Qualifying

• delay to start for track repairs from the safety team

• There is HUGE traffic jams already and it’s only Q1

• Latifi’s left mirror is cracked

• out in a1: Tsunoda, Kimi, Lil Schu, Latifi, and Mazepin

• Yuki is super mad at himself for getting out in Q1

• Perez had a spin into the gravel in Q3 but luckily he can still keep running

• Hamilton gets his 100th pole position, ughhh exhausting

• Max in second, Bot in third, and Charles in 4th!

Race

• Max gets ahead of Hamilton at the start!! Keeps the lead and Charles in 3rd and Bott in 4th - so unexpected that Max got ahead when everyone was talking about how important the qualifying grid

• Gasly under investigation for starting ahead of his pit stop

• 8/66 yellow flag for Yuki Tsunoda whose engine died and it pulls a full safety car as he retires and now they are going to have the pack back up

• Super embarrassing pit stop for Gio which is almost a full minute because they had a punctured tire that was going to be put on and they had to switch it out and Martin says he has never seen that before

• Max keeps the lead AGAIN even after the safety car!! He did a great start again and flies out front

• Gasly gets a 5 second time penalty from starting ahead of his grid spot

• Hamilton’s back right tire is blistering which is fun but then it turns out Max’s tire is blistering too so that is less fun

• 24/66 Max pits early and dips into the pit so that Ham can’t follow BUT Red Bull has a rare slower stop over 4 seconds

• Ham doesn’t put right away after Max and Mercedes extends so they will have the advantage at the end of the race then pits 28/66

• Bot pits early for Mercedes

• Wow this is tense I have no idea who is going to win here because of the different pits and tire strategies and Max is winning the whole race so far

• Daniel and Perez get out of the way to help Max after his pit stop

• Suddenly all focus is on the end of the race when Mercedes will have a supposed advantage with tires

• The slower Red Bull pit stop was really a downer and made a big difference ultimately and of course it benefited Hamilton

• Sometimes Ham gets DRS on the pit straight on Max and other times he doesn’t so every lap is stressful wondering if this is the one

• 43/66 Hamilton pits again out of NOWHERE and catches Red Bull off guard since no one expected it to be a 2 stop and Red Bull doesn’t pit right away after Hamilton’s second stop and now this is all just messed up and people are talking about it being Hungary 2019 again

• Max doesn’t pit again and they have nothing to lose by staying out and hamilton is gaining by 1 second on max with 22 laps left and he’s 22 behind so it will be last lap stuff

• They order Bottas not to hold up Lewis and he doesn’t move out of the way!! It’s awesome but then he does let him by except that he turns in on him and Lewis has to make a proper pass on his teammate hahahaha

• But THEN they put Bottas after he held up Lewis as PUNISHMENT. They say that it’s for getting the fastest lap but we all know that Mercedes would only pit Bot to punish him oh my gosh

• Max is almost held up by Ocon but then he gets out of the way but if it was Ocon as a back marker holding up Max again I would have had to quit

• A bunch of people pit near the end to try and get the fastest lap point

• 60/66 Hamilton passes Max into first BLAHHHHHHHHH

• This is the WORST

• A really exciting race but so horribly disappointing because Hamilton wins after Max lead 60/66. Crushed
