Marketing & Design
Artwork
Welcome to my art portfolio.

I am both a traditional and digital artist.

My traditional art is mainly created using watercolors and gouache paint. I also love working in ink, graphite and colored pencil.

My digital art career began when I started creating art on Adobe Photoshop in 2007. Using Wacom tablets, I learned digital painting and the pen tool to create character-driven pieces. Later, I began working with Procreate with the Apple Pencil on my 13" iPad Pro. I use Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator every day.

My portfolio is diverse as a result of my interest in trying new media and discovering new tools to tell stories.

This portfolio is dedicated to fine art, such as painting, drawing, and digital sketching. For my graphic design and marketing materials, please see the tab at the top labeled 'Design'.

In 2007, I started working with Adobe Photoshop in dedicated digital art classes. Since then, digital art has become a joy to work in everyday. Now, I am able to sketch, draw, vector, and design comfortably on Photoshop and Illustrator.

I often use my Apple Pencil and iPad Pro to sketch, but an equally happy with an honest pencil and sketchbook. I have designed on a PC, a mac, and using traditional materials. As long as I can use it to create, I'm happy.

Gouache paint has a beautiful bright, flat, and opaque nature that I love to create with. Many of my character designs begin in gouache and only eventually become digital. I love the versatility which allows me to create still life portraits of objects, landscapes, and scenes as well.

Rough sketches are how I start my digital creations, and this practice led to my interest drawing and sketching. The more I practice, the more satisfied I feel with capturing movement and mood of characters. I love the monochrome aspects of pencil and the way that the values can make an image pop. Graphite pencil is quickly becoming one of my favorite ways to create.

I participated in the Instagram MerMay challenge, drawing different mermaid characters for all 31 days in May. Each character was created with a rough pencil sketch on drawing paper, then finished with India ink pens.

I also completed Inktober, posting 31 original ink drawings for every day in October. You can see both the complete set of MerMay and Inktober designs on my instagram, @ellerylesueur.

Color was one of the first things that began my lifelong love of film. However, color always leads me back to art. Experimenting with monochrome and color editing in Photoshop is one way that I enjoy creating photography interested in ethereal places, fairytale-like visions, or iconic imagery.

Throughout my long relationship with Photoshop, I've found that there's always something new to learn, something different to create, and that there will always be stories to tell. To see the marketing materials and graphic design work, please click the Design tab at the top of the page.
Always learning, always growing
Whether it's pen and ink, paint, graphite, markers, colored pencils - or something else to discover - I like to try new things. As with everything in life, my goal is to always be learning.
